Tip 5: Consolidate remote learning resources

There are a ton of remote learning resources out there — which is great! Students need to continue their learning and parents need to feel they are supported at this time to best aid in their child’s schooling.

But it can be overwhelming for already stressed out parents and students to remember where a particular resource was posted and search multiple different streams to find (or in some cases, not
find 😔) what they are looking for.

So, try to organize all of your remote learning resources into one place. Things are already uncertain enough — so having one clear, consolidated, and updated source of communication can mitigate stress and confusion. Here are some great examples we’ve seen:

Designate one place for all information

Dayton Public Schools created a specific spot on their website for online learning with resources consolidated into a schedule, and they used ParentSquare to announce this new web page to their school community.

So, if you create a designated place for remote learning, make sure all stakeholders know about it by notifying them through your school/district’s notification platform and posting on your social channels.

Applicable even if you haven’t started remote learning

Remote learning has yet to begin at Santa Barbara High School, but they are still providing outside resources for parents and students who would like to continue learning while school is out of session.

Regardless of where your school/district is at in regards to remote learning, you can still create a page to help students and their families navigate learning at home.

Include all important information in one place — beyond remote learning

Northshore School District in Washington state was one of the first to roll out remote learning in the country — and they have a fantastic, comprehensive page for all things remote learning (and beyond) including: online learning resources, tech support strategies, meal plan information, news and FAQs.

Providing one, single page for all information during these unprecedented times will be very helpful (and appreciated) by your community.

Don’t forget to include resources for all subjects

To ensure students are able to continue their learning in all subjects, Lincoln Avenue Elementary School set up pages for each class and specialist subjects — including PE, Music and Art — and sent all of these pages out in one post.

If possible, pin your post with all resources to the top of your school communications feed so it’s easy to locate.
