Tip 34: Maintain student-teacher bonds with “we miss you” videos

We’re approaching the third month of school closures, but we know that you still miss your students just as much. While schools have settled into distance learning, that doesn’t change the fact that many are missing face-to-face interaction — educators and students alike!

Kindergarten and first grade teacher Danielle Eden tapped into her passion for music to create this fun and heartwarming video for her students, rewriting the lyrics to “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid.

Other videos feature various teachers and staff sharing a personal message to their students, like this one from Stephen Decatur Elementary School!

Cheylin USD 103 made this video on TikTok, the widely popular social media app used primarily by students in grades 6-12, and then shared it out via ParentSquare. At the end of the video, staff even did a well-known TikTok dance challenge!

Medlock Bridge Elementary put together a video of educators and staff holding up signs to spell out phrases — one being “we’re rocking in our teleschool shoes!” with a drawing of Pete the Cat shredding on guitar.

Starlight Elementary School sent out their video with an additional “weekly growth mindset” message. This is a great way to help with social emotional learning and build resiliency in these times! They also shared photos and videos from events earlier in the year.

If you have other examples, please let us know, so we can showcase you and your school, too!
